INTRO TO CONTAINER GARDENING

March 27 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

This hands-on workshop in collaboration with the Appalachian Reuse Hub introduces participants of all ages to container gardening and the benefits of recycling in gardening. Attendees will learn the basics of growing plants in small spaces while decorating their own recycled can to use as a planter. Each participant will plant kale seeds in their custom container, taking the first step toward starting their own container garden. This workshop is perfect for kids and adults alike, combining creativity, sustainability, and gardening education in a fun and interactive way.

Learning Outcomes: 
  • Participants will learn the basics of container gardening and how it allows for gardening in limited spaces/land access.
  • Attendees will demonstrate an understanding of sustainability by repurposing recycled cans into planters.
  • Participants will apply creative reuse principles by decorating their own recycled container for planting using recycled materials.
  • Attendees will explore how recycling and gardening go hand-in-hand, fostering a shared interest in sustainable practices.
