Leigh Pennington, MPH, from Barboursville, West Virginia is Coalfield Development’s Community Engagement Coordinator with Revitalize Appalachia. Leigh is an Alumna of Marshall University, where she graduated with a B.S. in Health Science and a Master of Public Health specializing in Public Health Education and Promotion. Since graduating in 2020 Leigh has had the opportunity to work with several community outreach and advocacy organizations, as well as multiple non-profits, which focus on addressing socio-economic barriers to health in Appalachia. She has also served as an adjunct professor in Marshall Universities College of Health Professions for the past four years. When she isn’t working hard for the Appalachian community, Leigh is constantly looking for new adventures to share with her husband and her two children. This often includes camping, traveling, or just enjoying the rivers and hills of our Appalachian home. She especially enjoys her all-time favorite pastime, Karaoke!
