Kenzie New Walker serves as Board Chair for Coalfield Development. Kenzie grew up in southern WV as the daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter of union coal miners, and is a proud associate member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA). She is a 2018 graduate from Marshall University with a degree in history and political science. She currently works as Executive Director for the West Virginia Mine Wars Museum. She proudly served as the Project Coordinator and Organizer for the Battle of Blair Mountain Centennial (2018-2021), a three-year collective and collaborative effort to commemorate, celebrate, and memorialize the 1921 Battle of Blair Mountain in the Appalachian region. She also served as a Preservation Alliance of West Virginia AmeriCorps Member in Matewan. WV Living Magazine recognized Kenzie as a 2021 West Virginia Wonder Woman for her leadership.
