POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for producing, designing, crafting, and testing wood products such as cabinets, home decor and furniture using specialized tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Design, produce, and test wood products.
  • Build furniture using hand tools.
  • Use automated machinery, such as X-carve and laser engraver. (training provided)
  • Perform work in varying temperatures and tight deadlines.
  • Set up, operate, and tend drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, and wood-nailing
    machines.
  • Cut, shape, and smooth wooden parts.
  • Verify dimensions using caliper or rule.
  • Add fasteners and adhesives and connect the pieces to form a complete unit.
  • Sand products using sander or sandpaper.
  • Stain or coat products with lacquer or varnish.
  • Utilize proper PPE when required.
  • Operate specialized pieces of woodworking machinery.
  • Design and create sets of cabinets that are customized for particular spaces.
  • Create wooden accents and trim.
  • Complete all stages of the woodworking process.
  • Ensure wood isn’t warped, cracked, or swollen.
  • Apply paint to raw wood.
  • Maintain production schedule and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Follow all safety rules and guidelines.

Work Location and Hours of Work

  • Woodshop location is in the Westmoreland community of Huntington, WV
  • Travel for installation or supply acquisition is expected

Environment Conditions, Physical Activity, Physical Demands

  • Moderate lifting (up to 50 LBS with or without accommodation).
  • Must be able to stand for long hours, bend, lift

TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must provide reliable transportation to their primary work location. Coalfield has a limited
fleet of vehicles and frequently carpools to minimize travel burdens on employees. Travel expenses
(excluding commutes) may be reimbursed per Coalfield’s policies and procedures.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Formal or informal education or training that ensures the ability to read and write at a level
    necessary for successful job performance.
  • Three years experience involving the operation of woodworking machinery and techniques
    preferred
