POSITION SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE

We are looking for a Retention and Alumni Services Coordinator to join our team and support our former workforce development employees and participants in their employment journey. This is a newly created role, and this position will play a vital part in building out the framework and network.

Essential Functions

  • Regular attendance is an essential function for all employees. We depend on our employees to show up, begin work and end work at the time their schedule indicates and whenever scheduled to work, aside from extenuating circumstances.
  • Legally and safely drive a vehicle to Coalfield work sites.
  • Provide individualized coaching and guidance to help former workforce development employees and participants retain their jobs or find new employment opportunities.
  • Connect former workforce development employees with the Coalfield Development community through various channels, such as newsletters, social media, webinars, workshops, and events.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer networking and mentoring among completers, current workers, staff, and employer partners.
  • Develop and deliver professional development programs and resources to help completers advance their skills and careers.
  • Track and report on retention and alumni services outcomes and impact.

Work Location and Hours of Work

  • Office in Black Diamond Building 2923 Park Avenue Huntington, WV 25704
  • Coalfield Development operates on a Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule.
  • Coalfield allows exempt employees to request & use flextime.

Environment Conditions, Physical Activity, Physical Demands

  • When visiting project sites: Low temperatures. High temperatures. Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. Noisy environments.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 25 pounds

TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must provide reliable transportation to their primary work location and other locations as required. Travel expenses (excluding commutes) may be reimbursed per Coalfield’s policies and procedures. Coalfield has a limited fleet of vehicles and frequently carpools to minimize travel burdens on employees. A valid driver’s license and annual
completion of our drivers safety course is required in order to drive a Coalfield vehicle.

Required Experience and Education

  • An Associates Degree
  • At least two year of experience in working with groups of people and facilitating connections.

Preferred Experience and Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, social work, education, or a related field
  • At least two years of experience in providing retention and/or alumni services to diverse populations
