POSITION SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE
The Project Accounting Coordinator will provide accounting and administrative support services to assigned grants and projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Allocates expenses to grants through effective cross-team collaboration.
Monitors and tracks project budgets and costs to ensure financial accuracy and alignment with project goals.
Prepares comprehensive grant reports, including workpapers and analysis, for internal and external stakeholders using Intacct and Excel.
Drafts and completes financial reports, explanations, narratives, and related forms for assigned projects.
Assists outside auditors by providing necessary account information and documentation for the annual audit.
Ensures compliance with contractual reporting obligations by submitting reports according to the required portals, processes, and formats.
Develops and maintains master files for grants and related program paperwork.
Coordinates financial monitoring and risk assessments of strategic partners to ensure compliance and due diligence.
Provides high-level administrative support for financial milestones and project-related deal closings.
Competency - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Strong knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles, including grant funding policies and regulations.
Proficient in accounting software, financial data analysis, and Microsoft Office or similar software.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, manage projects, and meet deadlines.
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.

Work Location and Hours of Work
This position offers flexibility with office locations in Huntington and Charleston, WV, and the option for remote work. Ideally, the candidate will be based in or near the Appalachian region. Reliable transportation is required for occasional in-office work and travel to meetings or partner locations.
Remote Work:
The first two weeks of employment require in-person attendance at the office (excluding any approved Paid Time Off).
After the initial two weeks, remote work is permitted, with in-person attendance or travel within southern West Virginia required one to two days per month.
Hours:
Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexible hours available.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must provide reliable transportation to their primary work location. Coalfield has a limited fleet of vehicles and frequently carpools to minimize travel burdens on employees. Travel expenses (excluding commutes) may be reimbursed per Coalfield’s policies and procedures.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required:
Strong accounting skills with the ability to handle complex financial tasks and challenges.
Preferred:
Experience with nonprofit organizations, grants, and federal awards.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
