This position will support, and champion the organization’s needs to effectively collect, visualize, and report on our on-the-job training outputs, outcomes, and impact. This position requires an individual with program evaluation experience, a deep understanding of how data can make non-profit practice more efficient and effective, and a commitment to serving and supporting ongoing organizational learning.

Essential Functions

  • Regular attendance is an essential function for all employees. We depend on our employees to show up, begin work and end work at the time their schedule indicates and whenever scheduled to work, aside from extenuating circumstances.
  • Create new, and continuously evaluate, iterate, and improve Coalfield’s data collection tools, processes, and workflows pertaining to Coalfield’s workforce development employment program and intended outcomes.
  • Develop and strengthen monitoring, inspection and evaluation procedures
  • Maximize the usefulness of Apricot (current case management/data management system) and Paycom (HRIS) in answering questions for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Schedule completion of data input tools and continuously improve upon the data input process for front-line supervisors of OJT employees, streamlining and simplifying their user experience wherever possible.
  • Collaborate with other teams in the organization to create, implement and maintain ways to meet data needs for projects and programs.
  • Deepen the organization’s understanding of our interventions, outputs, outcomes, impact and our theory of change and its implementation through qualitative and quantitative data analysis projects.
  • Create reports with top-of-the-line data visualization to engage staff & leadership in data-supported decision making.
  • Maintain understanding of best-practices and emerging technologies, studies, tools and research to inform better measurement and understanding.
  • Train new staff in data entry tools, responsibilities, how their data will be reviewed in supervision, and how their data collection connects with Coalfield’s Mission, Vision and Theory of Change.
  • Significant interaction with stakeholders that may be difficult, especially when your findings might imply that a program should be changed or halted.
  • Deep understanding of the program’s objectives and be able to assess the impact of the program on the target population.

  • Expertise in analyzing data with or without using statistical software
  • Strong training & facilitation skills

  • Collect data, analyze it, and provide meaningful feedback
  • Work with a variety of software and hardware to collect, analyze, and report data

  • Coalfield Development operates on a Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule.
  • Coalfield allows exempt employees to request & use flextime.

Environment Conditions, Physical Activity, Physical Demands

  • Light lifting (up to 25 LBS with or without accommodation).
  • Must be able to work seated or standing at a desk and/or computer.


Candidates must provide reliable transportation to their primary work location and other locations as required. Travel expenses (excluding commutes) may be reimbursed per Coalfield’s policies and procedures. Coalfield has a limited fleet of vehicles and frequently carpools to minimize travel burdens on employees. A valid driver’s license and annual completion of our drivers safety course is required in order to drive a Coalfield vehicle.

Required Experience and Education

  • Degree in business administration, statistics, economics, research methods, research design, research administration, public policy, public health, social sciences or related field
  • Some years of experience in monitoring and evaluation

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Master of Public Health, Master of Administration, Master of Public Policy, Programme Evaluation or Research Methods
  • Monitoring And Evaluation Specialist Certifications
